Parents and teachers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of exercise for children. Yoga can be very helpful to children in their early years, providing a safe, gentle method of exercise. As a mother of two young children I know only too well how beneficial a yoga session can be - it's also a marvellous way to have great fun with your children and to discover them anew.
Lisa has been trained by yogabuddies and recently attended Child Protection Training hosted by NSPCC entitled "Safeguarding young people in yoga". Yogabuddies also has an active "Safegaurding children and young people" policy. Teenagers are welcome to attend the evening classes and under 16s pay a reduced rate of £5 per class.
Yogabuddies Yoga for Children Class
Due to family and work commitments, Lisa is now only teaching yogabuddies classes to chidren at schools and nurseries. If you are interested in bringing yoga to children from Nursery to "A" Level Contact Lisa.
A Yoga for children class gives children a time to experience calmness, relaxation and most importantly fun! The sessions are approximately 45 minutes long and include songs and stories. The asanas or postures used involve familiar animals and aspects of nature. Children are encouraged to be individuals and to express themselves at their own pace.
At the end of the session the children are guided through some calming breathing exercises and a short period of relaxation.
